Local environment

• Expand the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park to protect the outer reef systems
• Support solar rebates and other solar-based initiatives for northern communities
• Preserve funding for the CSIRO in Townsville to continue its important research

Community development

• Revitalisation of Flinders Mall
• Exclude residential development from the new Ocean Terminal
• Complete the Magnetic Island walkway between Nelly Bay and Arcadia

Health

• Commencement of new wing at Townsville Hospital to provide 100 more beds
• Preservation of private health insurance rebates

Seniors

• Increase the single pension rate to 75% of the partnered rate.
• Provide an additional 100 high care nursing home beds to ensure Townsville's future needs will be met.

Roads

• Upgrade Mount Low Parkway to three lanes.
• Complete the connection of Beck Drive from Hervey's Range Road through to Kelso.
• Expand Riverway Drive to four lanes from Gollogly's Lane to Allambie Lane.
• Bruce Highway improvements including more overtaking lanes.

Defence

• Maintain local Defence expansion to support capability and boost the local economy
• More Service Residences to match the growth in defence families posted to Townsville
• Retention of services offered by the Defence Community Organisation

Education and training

• Retain the North Queensland Technical College currently educating 300 young to fast-track apprenticeships
• Establish a mining institute at James Cook University
• Support parental choice by continuing grants for private schools as well as adequately funding and managing State government-run schools

Fighting crime in the community

• Crack down on hoons and other anti-social behaviour
• Install more security surveillance cameras in Townsville's entertainment areas.
• Continue support for community groups such as Neighbourhood Watch
